Fitness Level Needed
The jobs at the hut don't require much physical effort, but the fieldwork sure does. If you really can't handle the fieldwork you have the chance to stay and help more at the hut, but the main reason you are going is the fieldwork. Expect long walks, very steep ground (more or less climbing up and down), and wading through rivers as part of a daily routine once you enter the rainforest.

Before trekking out to do fieldwork you are expected to take part in a practice trek. If you're able to handle that then you should be able to at least get to the rainforest camp. I have asthma and found some parts a struggle. I did the fieldwork and it was very fun, although I would train a lot more beforehand if I did it again.
