This little snake was found slithering around one of the fences at our wood hut base. We didn't touch it and I don't know yet what kind it is, but it didn't seem to mind having photos taken of it. Nevertheless I was glad of the water between us and it, but I didn't know if it could swim or not! One of the supervisors had heard there were some snakes, but had never seen one around our base until that night. We must have been lucky (if you want to call it that)!
I don't know what the purple and green dots are in the picture. Maybe they are bits of dust on the camera, maybe they are eeeeeyes... since I don't know, I'll let you use your imagination.
